 X is for Xander – Xander Hayden Smurthwaite to be precise.

For those who don’t already know, we recently celebrated the arrival of our beautiful son, Xander Hayden, and throughout my pregnancy with him (he was, at that point, known to us as “Tadpole”) I chronicled everything that was going on (see The Countdown to Tadpole’s Arrival for links to all the related posts). I thought it might be nice to have a page specifically for Xander now that he has come into the big, wide world too!

So, my foray into motherhood (and my husband’s bold adventure into fatherhood) has begun! It’s strange to go so suddenly from being a “Couple” to being a “Family”, but it’s lovely! It’s going to be hard work, but we know it’ll be worth it in the end. However, I have pledged to become a member of the “REAL Mom’s Club” and be honest about things – not every aspect of parenthood will be fun or even nice; some of it will be downright difficult and possibly leave us tearing out hair out at the roots, but I have decided there’s no point in sugar-coating things – life doesn’t work that way!

Anyway, without further ado, welcome to The “X” – Files…
